The ARC treatment philosophy is to address both the underlying causes and conditions of the addictive process and the negative behavioral manifestations of the drug addiction or substance abuse issues themselves. Each addicted and/or abusing individual has unique experiences that have developed into intricate belief systems that support the internal mechanisms driving them to drink or use. Without question, inevitably the alcohol and drugs become the primary identified problem but without a true understanding of what lead each person into a lifestyle of alcoholism and/or addiction to begin with, then long-term resolution of the identified problem can only questionably be established.

ARC Offers Personalized Treatment Approaches

With ARC each client undergoes an assessment that produces a personalized treatment plan designed to answer three fundamental questions:

  • What personal issues have contributed to the manifestation of the addictive process?
  • What steps need to be taken to immediately arrest the addictive process?
  • What plan of action needs to be implemented to address any future recovery needs?

To help answer these questions ARC utilizes a multi-disciplinary treatment team of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed professionals, experiential therapists and certified substance abuse counselors. Based on our philosophy that each individual’s addictive process originates from their own unique circumstances we employ such therapeutic techniques as:

  • Grief Therapy
  • Trauma Therapy
  • Somatic Therapy
  • Analytical Therapy
  • Reflective Therapy
  • Insight-Based Therapy
  • Reason-Based Therapy
  • Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

These methodologies focus clinical attention beyond the surface issue of alcoholism and/or substance abuse. The ARC method of treating alcoholism and/or drug addiction allows clients to discard negative forms of self-expression while nourishing the positive aspects of their individual constitution back into consciousness and daily application.

In order to effectively address the reality of arresting the alcohol abuse or drug problem, a detailed assessment determines what measures need to be taken to address each client’s immediate recovery needs. Educational groups, recovery-oriented activities and 12-Step programming are initiated that help address the primary problem of alcohol abuse and/or drug addiction. Additionally, experiential activities are offered as a resource to our clients as a means to nurturing a renewed sense of enjoyment in daily living. These experiential activities are geared to the physical condition of each client and include:

  • Hiking (Mountain / Ocean)
  • Psychodrama
  • Art Therapy
  • Movement Therapy

As psychotherapist and author Sharon Wegscheider Cruse states, "Experiential therapy is a treatment approach that combines theory with action. It is a technique that therapists can use to touch people's lives deeply and intimately. Its effect can be profoundly healing. Treatment is a combination of knowledge and experience. To utilize one without the other is incomplete therapy.”

Without question, ARC is philosophically inclined to entwine 12-Step solutions around a clinical core program of realization and recovery. However, we recognize that individual circumstances sometimes prevent clients from choosing to partake in 12-Step philosophy. Subsequently, our treatment methods are rooted in the reality that a single solution won’t work for everyone. Our commitment is to deliver clinical services that bring historical understanding of the diseases causes and conditions. From this platform of insight and awareness an individualized program of recovery can be created which furthers the process of resolution and thrives within the framework of our clients personal belief systems.
