Why Location is Important 

Addiction treatment is the first step towards sustainable alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse recovery – but it’s not the final step. 

Extended care is the critical drug rehab component that allows individuals who have undergone primary addiction treatment to get back into life…safely and with their recovery intact. Location is crucial in this phase of the recovery process. For example, if people attend addiction treatment in a secluded setting and if that program offers extended care also in an isolated region – how will the individual learn how to function in everyday life? The crucial component of an effective extended care program is not just a comprehensive clinical approach to reintegration it’s also the extended care programs location. 

Location is what allows the individual to pursue vocational and educational opportunities. Location is what allows the individual to choose the types of meetings they will attend, the therapists they will see…the outpatient programs they will participate in. Location for extended care means everything! 

The ARC Extended Care Program is Located Purposefully and Effectively 

• Education

Location was a critical factor when the Authentic Recovery Center founded its first extended care program. Minutes from UCLA, USC and Santa Monica Community College, ARC truly offers the opportunity for people to enroll in college and pursue their educational goals. 

• Employment 

ARC is located within vicinity of multiple employment opportunities – from corporate settings to dozens of grocery stores where a newly sober person can get back in the vocational saddle. 

• Transportation

Buses run in all directions within 2 blocks from the extended care program for people who have lost their license or don’t have a vehicle available for transportation.

• Medical Services 

Medical services, including Cedars Sinai, UCLA and Brotman Medical Center are available for treatment of physical ailments or to follow up on conditions predicated or parallel to the need for addiction treatment. 

• Real Practice - Real Life

Location allows an individual to truly reintegrate into everyday life while practicing the principles they learned while in primary care – without location, extended care is an ethereal level of care from which an individual can’t really practice the tools they have learned.
